LG Liger (F490L) with LG Odin SoC gets Bluetooth certified

Today the LG F490L has received its Bluetooth certification thanks to the Bluetooth SIG. It supports Bluetooth 4.0 as well as 4G LTE connectivity.

The F490L is codenamed Liger according to past rumors, and it's going to be pretty special for the second biggest Korean smartphone maker.

That's because the Liger is said to be the first LG device to come with the company's self-developed Odin chipset. This has been a very long time in the making, with leaked benchmark results of the Odin having surfaced all the way back in 2013.

Based on those, the Odin is going to have an octa-core CPU, though there might be a version with just four cores too. The octa-core iteration may use four ARM Cortex-A15 cores alongside four Cortex-A7 battery-friendly ones in a big.LITTLE configuration.

Reports about the GPU used have so far been pretty contradictory. It could either be ARM's Mali-T604 (for the quad-core variant), the Mali-T760 (for the octa-core CPU), or maybe even a PowerVR Series 6.

Hopefully the LG Liger will get released soon as all of the details about the Odin SoC should officially surface when that happens. The first carrier to get the new phone may be South Korea's LG U+.
